For What It's Worth...

May 14th, 2003:
I’m going racing. Stay back 100 feet.

I’ve officially signed up for my first Autocross race. It’s the only race of the year that’s not on a Sunday. (Hey, I can’t interfere with our dance lessons!)

Work has been a little hectic recently. A new system to bypass all of our deployment rules has been created by marketing. They call it a “fast track” swat. More or less, they make a request (that is supposed to be 100% final) and we’re expected to get it to the production environment in about 2 business days. At least I got a pseudo-promotion a few weeks ago. I’ll remember that as I drink my way to happiness. 😉

Upgrades to WRX. We learn to dance.

Well, I finally put lighter wheels and stickier tires on my WRX. Me likey. The extra roll and understeer found under strong cornering has disappeared. (The OEM WRX sedan swaybar I installed earlier probably helps.) Although, the car seems to require a little more involved steering input at times. I hope to participate in an upcoming Solo II (autocross) event. Since the weather has not been cooperating, there have been no trips to Milan this season. Maybe I can make 1 or 2 this year…

Gina and I have been attending dance lessons. I’d like to take a moment to emphasize that I’m not gay. Not that anything is wrong with that. I’m just not. However, I think I like dancing… or at least I like dancing with Gina. Hmmm… probably the later.

Critical mass… approaching… iTMS announced.

Augh! I need a break. My schedule is packed for the next 2 months… How am I supposed to do yardwork, car stuff, or relax (heaven forbid)?!

The racing season has started. This contributes to the congested schedule mentioned above. It’s fun being back at the track, but with only one car to shake down, it leaves a lot of extra time to just sit.

Apple‘s music store is very cool. I hope it supports Windows users in the near future. I’ve already bought an album. Me = impressed.

Coworkers go to Vegas. I don’t… I see Matrix: Reloaded preview… they don’t.

Many co-workers are in Vegas today through Sunday as a reward for a record month. It was optional. I didn’t feel like going. Oh well… as a result, it’s more than boring today at work.

Yesterday I went to an “empowerment” seminar. For the first hour, all I could think of was the “power animal” sequences in Fight Club. However, as the seminar progressed, I found it very useful. Suprisingly, it wasn’t bullshit. A lot of it could be applied to social engineering, as well as to improving life in general. Who would have known?

They just gave out a few advanced screening invitation to the remaining non-Vegas people. Which screening, you ask? Non other than The Matrix: Reloaded. Life is good.

Wedding planning. Yardwork. Server closet pimped.

A lot’s been going on. Wedding planning is well under way, but the last few things on the list need to happen in rapid succession. We spent a lot of time cleaning up the yard (24 bags full of leaves and grass). We also really cleaned up the office. The server closet is shelved, with a roll-out keyboard tray. Low-noise fans will be installed soon. Our new sidewalk will be paid for this week, if I can manage to make a trip to the township offices.
