For What It's Worth...

June 29th, 2003:
Monitor replaced… finally. iChatAV rocks.

A few news updates ago, I mentioned the nightmare I went through trying to replace my digital CRT. Well, I got screwed. The ebayer (bluecore) never sent the insurance check from UPS. I ended up buying a refurb monitor from MegaMacs… for $100 less than the monitor that arrived in pieces.

Also, iChatAV rocks. I just tried it as I’m typing this. Headphones and/or a mic are recommended.

Apple announces G5. I lose it.

Good googley-moogley. Apple has just announced the new G5. It’s sexy. Up to dual-200GHz processors, 8 gigs of ram, 1 GHz per-processor front-side bus. Aluminum enclosure with headphone, USB 2, Firewire 400 on the front. Optical digital audio in and out on the back with firewire 800, more USB 2, gig ethernet… and a lot more. I wonder how much my spleen is worth on the black market.

This coming weekend is race 3 at Waterford Hills. Come on out and see us stomp the competition.

Rogerbox update.

Rogerbox went through a lot of changes in the last year. One of the founding members left to deal with his increasingly busy life. Keith moved from behind the drums to play more guitar as well as sing backup. We got a new drummer… that didn’t work out. Then, we decided to have actual auditions for a drummer. After dozens of try-outs, we found a great musician, Eric, that lives in the area. Eric is dedicated, talented, and easy to get along with. So, the current lineup is:

-Gina: Vocals
-Keith: Guitar, Vocals
-Chris: Bass, Vocals
-Eric: Drums
-Duane: Guitar

We should be playing a show at the I-Rock (in Detroit) in a few weeks. Stay tuned…

Archived System Update

I’ve moved Leinninger.com to a “new” server. The old server (dual Pentium Pro Compaq Proliant w/ SCSI RAID and tons of ram) suffered from over-heating that surely would have worsened in the summer. The new server is an older Macintosh G3 (~333 MHz, 315 megs of ram, Fast SCSI-2) running OS X Server 10.2. So far I’m thoroughly impressed.

Memorial Day autocross. Brad was faster… I’m still more cool.

Yesterday (Memorial Day) was my first Autocross. Brad and I did well. Brad’s time of 41.191 beat my best of 43.447… however, he’s been in 3 autocrosses and I set my tire pressures way too low. In any event, he drove better than I… I just like to justify things with lame excuses. It was a lot of fun. I think autocrossing will help me find the limits of my driving. This is probably the last one I’ll participate in until August due to a very full calendar.
