Archived System Update

After nine months, I’ve finally written a new article. I haven’t ranted about Macs in a while… so here it comes… enjoy.

InfoWorld likes Macs… and we go camping. No connection.

Am I crazy or is InfoWorld becoming a lot more Mac-friendly? Nearly every week, Tom Yager‘s column oozes praise for my platform of choice. I can’t say I disagree, recent experience with anything Apple has been enlightening, to say the least.

Gina and I went camping with her parents this weekend. We had a ton of fun. A little rain, a little thunder, but our mega-tent kept us dry. I met my “sucking at miniature golf” quota for the summer. Kacey had a lot of fun, but chewed up a set up blinds in Gina’s parent’s camper. We’ll take care of that ASAP, btw. Next step is to restore the pop-up camper that my parents are giving to us.

Archived System Update

I’ve finished the admin tool for the site. It lets me add, update, and delete news, changelog entries, and articles. If the spirit moves me, I’ll try to write a new article soon.

Since the migration to OS X Server there have been no unexpected outages or failures. The server is running 15 degrees cooler than the previous one and makes 1/10th the noise. I’ll add a real Xserve to my wish list.

Crazy co-worker canned. We code in fear.

The developer “most likely to go postal when fired”, just got fired. I understand the reasons. Her work ethic, personality, and skill all left a lot to be desired. But, sheesh… I’d like to live to see my 28th birthday! My guess is she’s more likely to take us out one at a time with her minivan than with a firearm. Especially since she couldn’t even figure out how to use a softball bat… and she drives like a blind crack addict prone to seizures and blackouts.
