Rogerbox playing Scalici’s in Allen Park

Rogerbox is booked to play at Scalici’s in Allen Park September 19th. Details, cover, and showtimes can be found at http://www.rockonroll.com/.

We’ve got a pile of new material… and everyone will finally meet our new drummer, Eric. No guarantees on whether Chris will keep his pants on or not.

2 Weddings, 2 days at the races, 2 birthday outings… all in 1 weekend.

Gina and I have set a new weekend “tight schedule” record. Starting with Friday, a birthday lunch with my brother followed by a wedding on the East Side. Saturday contained a full day or racing (with plenty of mechanical issues), followed by a wedding reception northwest of Ann Arbor. Sunday started with more racing at WHRRI, during which Glenn was forced off the track in the back straight and made contact with the wall somwhere between 60 and 80 mph. We were able to rebuild the entire right rear corner of the car (suspension, drivetrain, body) just in time to enter and get a class win for the feature race. After all of that excitement, we headed back out the East Side to officially celebrate my brother’s birthday. If that wasn’t enough, in the next 2 weeks, there are 3 wedding left to attend!

Lights out, lights on, lights installed.

Around 16:00, Tursday, August 14th, electrical service was interrupted in New York, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, Conneticut, Vermont and parts of Canada when a single power plant puked on itself. This caused a chain reaction of overloads, putting millions in the dark. Hey, terrorists! Take some notes…

Our power was restored 26 hours later. Some lunchmeat went bad, I smelled a little. I wrote an article (on my powerbook) with the whole story… look for it here, soon.

To celebrate the return of electricity, I’ve installed a bunch of new recessed lights in my basement. This is something I’ve been meaning to do for years. Yay.

Ben’s going-away party. Woodward nightmare cruise…

This past Tuesday was Ben’s going-away party at the Brown Jug in Ann Arbor. A lot of good people were there… as well as Dark Cube. Ben got silly drunk, followed by silly sick. I quote Rob: “That’s a lotta vomit…” Ben has recovered and we all wish him the best in NY. I for one will miss his company on a regular basis. Ben is an honestly good person… something that has become a bit of a rarity.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is this weekend. I’m very glad I don’t live near it any more. It was cool for a few years, but it has become increasingly corporate. The cops are jackasses, and the crowd is ignorant. There are still more minivans and SUVs making the circuit than hotrods… mostly since all of the tuned-up cars are prone to overheat in the stop-and-go traffic. I’ll be nowhere near Woodward Ave. this weekend… I’ll be upgrading the brakes on my WRX instead.

Wedding shower. Kacey discovers bees.

We had a family-type wedding shower this past weekend. I took Monday off to mow my lawn (since I would be gone all weekend), and to help set up for the shower on the east side. Kacey was outside with me all morning while I cut the lawn. When I returned in the evening, we saw that the right side of her face was all swollen! We made a call to the 24-hour vet… and then headed back out to the east side of town to get Kacey a shot. By the next morning Kacey was back to normal and we were off to the shower.

The wedding shower was very nice. Thanks to everyone that was there. As far as that whole pickle thing (don’t ask)… I’m sure it’s not the last we’ll hear about it.
